Art historian
She studied Art History of the Early Modern period at the Università di Parma (laurea) and the Sapienza Università di Roma (laurea specialistica). She continued her studies at the Sapienza with a PhD research on Marcello Venusti (under supervision of prof.dr. Silvia Squarzina Danesi) and defended her dissertation in 2013. The monograph Marcello Venusti, un pittore all’ombra di Michelangelo will be published with Campisano editore. Francesca participated as a researcher and project assistant in the PRIN 2009 project on the history of collecting in Rome between 1400-1700. In 2015 she received a research fellowship from the Università di Chieti to study the Savelli family.
Between October 2015 and September 2016 she held a post-doc position at the Università di Salerno and the Università di Chieti, as part of the Firb 2013 project The Orsini and Savelli in Papal Rome. Patronage and Arts of Ancient Families from Feudalism to the European Baroque Courts. For both projects, she conducted extensive archival research. Currently, Francesca is a research fellow at the “Fondazione 1563 per l’Arte e la Cultura - Ente strumentale della Compagnia San Paolo” in Turin with a project on the circulation of ornament prints and drawings from Rome at the court in Madrid between the late-17th and first half of the 18th century.
